  I have been very good friends for years with a very progressive woman even though she knows i have always leaned libertarian and even was part of the Republican cult until recently. By the way, she is a wonderful community leader, who works harder than anyone else in anything related to making the community better for Republicans and Democrat families. She volunteers full time raising funds an creating new programs to improve education, helping the poor and victims of domestic violence. She walks the walk. I hope one day you do the same.

  I just did the math. If every American wanted to contribute his/her share to pay the national debt, he or she has to pay about 64K. That's over a quarter million dollar for a family of four (my family). Where the hell do I get that amount of money just to make sure that the U.S. is out of debt??!!!, but we are concerned about building a wall at the border that will serve no other purpose than make you feel good, and of course, increase the national debt

  When I came to the U.S. (30 years ago) and try to learn English by watching TV my favorite shows were "Cheers" and "This week with David Brinkley", and with Sam Donaldson, George Will, and Cookie Roberts. I found George Will (the Republican) always the wiser person and I am happy today to see that he quit the Republican party and is Trumps biggest critic. At least someone can see that the Republicans in the far right have turned the party into a dangerous cult.

  Blownaway "Illegal immigration puts a strain on the system"

  It may, it may, buy I wonder how much of the 21 trillion dollar national debt and the hundreds of billions of dollars in annual deficits are caused by illegal aliens. It's a tough one, they take and give in ways that are hard to measure. For example, the lettuce or packaged meat, or nannies, or house cleaning are a lot cheaper thanks to illegal aliens. Those benefits to individual Americans gets lost. But even if you did your economics math in the worst possible way, even then the big problem facing this country is not illegal aliens. It's much, much bigger than that. But, who gives a shit, 21 trillion dollar debt doesn't stir any emotions in nativists, patriots, chauvinists. May be it is because the U.S. never ranks better than 30th in math and science when compared to other nations. I bet you most Americans don't even know how many zeros to put in a trillion. And the ones who know are likely immigrants or children of from Asian countries (Korea, China, India, Phillipines). America is starting to look like Germany in 1933.

  Let's review, we are surrounded by cults. Scientology, JW's, Amway, far left, Trump cult, Ayn Rand devotees, etc etc. And of course, members of a cult will never admit they are in one.
